OSIE-2 PUCK telecon notes: 9/9/2009

1. SmartBay demo, phase 1 status (Ng, Philips, Cater)
Chris has implemented phase 1 on the Axys controller, sent firmware to Neil. Reads PUCK data sheet, installs driver based on data sheet manufacturer ID (assumes model for given manufacturer). Neil says Eric is working on installing and testing firmware. Detection done at boot time. About 2-2.5 weeks effort. Neil waiting to hear from Nortek on old Aquadopp retrofit; does RBR have an Aquadopp that we can borrow? (Neil will ask Greg J) Buoy is not yet in the water. Note that Axys implementation actually scans all ports on controller for PUCK.

2. SmartBay demo phase 2 plans; (Robert Thomas, O'Reilly, Cater)
a) What instrument controller to use? Axys? PC-104 running SIAM? Other?
b) Demonstrate automatic instrument registration,
Chris says it may be difficult for Axys to participate in phase 2, but would like more detail on SWE - O'Reilly to send Ng a link to SWE. Neil says there are now "live" SOSs for two SmartBay buoys (which are Axys); SmartBay is now part of the "North American Sensor Interoperability" project.

3. November demo at MARTECH - what capabilities will be demonstrated?
Joaquin says we'll talk next Tuesday about demo.
a) Use of payload tags? Could use these for demo (Dan)
b) Which SOS to use? - Scott Fairgrieve says we can use Northrup Grumann SOS (O'Reilly)
c) Integrate STWS into observatory servers? Kang Lee is working to make STWS source available to us (O'Reilly)
d) Develop "script" for MARTECH demo - next week when Joaquin returns
