Sensor Inventory

This page captures details about common sensor types in use within the OCEANS IE and OOSTethys projects.

Introduction and Goals

One goal is to work on expanding our Sensor Markup Language (SML) and Transducer Markup Language (TML) encodings to accommodate at least the most commonly used and/or most challenging to encode of these sensors.

This page also indicates the complexity and range of functionality that the work is intended to support under a single architecture.

Typical Sensors

For the purposes of illustrating and comparing markup languages, three canonical sensors from the Sensor Metadata Interoperability workshop will be described in both SensorML and TransducerML. The first three sensors in the Instruments to Describe page will be described in this way.

Sensors To Be Used

This table (in progress) lists the sensors that are anticipated to be used in this exercise. Some data may not be linkable to sensor information; this will be indicated in the table as that information becomes available. Otherwise, as the work proceeds, the expectation is that this information will be available via the services being implemented in this work.
