Owning the Ball for OGC and Community Docs

How to keep track of who's working on which document.

here are the procedures for updating the draft OGC and Community documents:

  • When you finish a more recent version than the one that is posted, you post it on the wiki.
  • When you are going to start working on a document, you claim the ball.
    • To claim the ball you send an email to the oostethys list that has the word ball mine in the subject.
      • Include community or ogc in the subject or the text to indicate which one.
      • You can claim the ball for the whole document or just a part, but if just a part, then
        • say which part in the subject and body of the email, and
        • you are responsible for managing appropriate merging.
    • If you are on the Oceans IE list only, ask for the ball on that list. (I'm guessing that's not an issue.)
  • To finish with the document, do the following if you want to publish, then release the ball.
    • when you have the ball on the whole document, just put it on the wiki.
    • when you have the ball on a part, you figure it out with the other people who have the ball.
  • To release the document for others to work on, send email to oostethys with ball done in the subject.
    • Include community or ogc in the subject or the text to indicate which one.
